A Reflection on the
4th Annual MLK Jr. Unity Celebration
What an unforgettable day of unity, wellness, and community love. The 4th Annual MLK Jr. Unity Celebration brought together families, partners, volunteers, and leaders at the Seeds of Joy Community Garden to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy through connection, service, and shared purpose.

Special appreciation goes to the City of Ontario, California – Government and the Community Life & Culture Department for helping create a welcoming and meaningful experience for everyone who attended. This year’s celebration reflected the power of partnership. Standing alongside keynote speaker Monique Amis and Senator Susan Rubio, community leaders and organizations came together to advance wellness and strengthen community ties. We were honored to celebrate with partners including Anthesis, the Pomona Valley Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the Phi Rho Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., longtime supporter Niagara Cares, and community members like 87-year-old farmer David Forte, Renee Willis, and Larry Willis.
We are also deeply grateful to Black Voice News and journalist Alyssah Hall for uplifting this work and highlighting the partnerships that continue to strengthen our region. Read our feature article in The IE Voice here: https://theievoice.com/community-garden-mlk-tribute
And to Grace Medical & Wellness Clinic, thank you for providing wellness checks and supporting whole-person health throughout the event.
This celebration showed what’s possible when public health leaders, community organizations, faith partners, and neighbors stand side-by-side to uplift one another. The energy, joy, and shared commitment present throughout the day were a true reflection of Dr. King’s vision of unity, not just in words, but in action.
To every partner, vendor, performer, volunteer, and attendee who made this day unforgettable: thank you. Your presence and dedication continue to help build a stronger, healthier community for us all.
