At the 4th Annual MLK Jr. Unity Celebration, we were honored to welcome Monique Amis as our keynote speaker. Her words and presence reflected the spirit of Dr. King’s legacy—service, equity, and a shared commitment to uplifting our communities.

Monique Amis serves as Chief of Community and Family Health and interim director of the Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health Program with the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health, where she oversees programs designed to improve health outcomes for mothers, children, and families throughout the county. Her leadership supports initiatives such as Black Infant Health, California Children’s Services, nutrition and wellness programs, and other efforts focused on advancing health equity and early intervention. Her journey in public service began with San Bernardino County in 2008 as a finance analyst, later advancing into leadership roles that allowed her to see firsthand the impact of county programs on families and communities. That experience deepened her passion for addressing systemic barriers to care and advocating for policies that create healthier, more equitable outcomes for all.

During the Unity Celebration, Ms. Amis shared powerful insights about the importance of collaboration, community trust, and addressing disparities that affect families—reminding us that real change happens when organizations, leaders, and residents work together for the common good.

We are deeply grateful for her time, wisdom, and encouragement. Her commitment to service and her dedication to improving the lives of families across our region inspire the very work our community continues to pursue.

We look forward to continued partnership and collaboration with Ms. Amis and the Public Health team as we work together to build healthier, stronger, and more connected communities for generations to come.
