Caramel Connections Foundation Joins San Antonio Regional Hospital’s Generations Ahead
The Caramel Connections Foundation recently had the pleasure of participating in the Power Your Plate event hosted by the Generations Ahead program at San Antonio Regional Hospital. The event brought families and community members together to explore simple, nutritious ways to build healthier meals at home.
As part of the program, our team demonstrated how vibrant, fresh ingredients can transform everyday vegetables into something both nourishing and delicious.
A Salad That Brings the Colors of the Garden to the Table
During our presentation, we introduced attendees to a Collard & Kale Superfood Salad. This salad is a fresh, colorful dish packed with nutrients and bold flavor.
The salad combines:
- Fresh kale and collard greens
- Bright red, yellow, and orange bell peppers
- Crisp purple onion
- Grated carrot
- Mandarin orange segments for natural sweetness
- A squeeze of fresh lemon
- A touch of chili flakes for gentle heat
The result is a vibrant dish that highlights how whole foods can be both beautiful and satisfying while supporting healthy eating habits.
Making Healthy Choices Accessible
One of the goals of Caramel Connections Foundation is to make healthy food approachable and enjoyable for families. Recipes like this one demonstrate that nutritious meals do not have to be complicated or expensive. With a few fresh ingredients and simple preparation, families can create dishes that are both nourishing and flavorful.
Events like Power Your Plate allow us to connect directly with the community, share practical cooking ideas, and encourage families to explore new ways of incorporating fruits and vegetables into everyday meals.
